Faces and Places!
Background
I spent two and a half years preparing to publish Faces and Places. The book was printed in China, because a family friend of mine, Elie Berkman, who lives in Glencoe, spent several weeks in China this summer at the printer guiding him on each page. Why China? About ten years ago, Elie trained in Chicago a Chinese photographer, Ms Wang Yao, and had a public showing of her photographs taken in Chicago, which I attended. Wang Yao returned to China and years later had a book of her photographs published there in her native language. Her book became a best seller. Elie had Faces and Places printed in China at the printer who had printed Wang Yao’s book.
The editorial adviser for my book, Carmen Marti, reviewed my written draft material and organized and reduced my lengthy drafts. My art designer, Andrea Bucsi, and Carmen picked the photograph for the cover of my book and determined what photographs on the left and right of each page looked well together.
